@claytonkroeker Definition of a sneaky good spot. You can tell the owners care about it. The place still has its #smalltown charm but not run down or anything. Just well maintained. You can tell the locals love it. Saw my dads old hearing aid sales guy here, so classic Saskatchewan… So many classic #saskatchewan things about this place I dont want to write them all out haha! The food here is tasty and not expensive, same with the beer. The several types of chairs and deep freeze are your biggest green flags. The carpet is just an added bonus. @claytonkroeker Wood panelling and bright carpet, this is my jam. If this place had the classic hodge podge of old metal chairs and a bit more of a menu, it’d be perfect. The patio door is legendary. Just the right amount of stuff from 2004 on the wall. Good selection of beer, good staff, just bring cash! Cant match that lighting too, thats small town sask lighting! @claytonkroeker If that stage could talk… love how everywhere you look here theres wood. Huge green flag! Also the regular calendar, the sticker fridge, the pool area, the quirky signs, the deep freeze, the connection and effort to keep the bar history alive… you can tell the regulars love it here. So mant good shows have been at this little bar! Theres not much going on in town anymore but they have one heck of a bar! @claytonkroeker My kind of place. Dont judge a book by its cover… I mean its not Buckingham Palace in there, but it catches you off guard! Rumour is the food is unreal, super tasty, and giant portions. Their burgers are legendary in these parts. You just cant recreate the vibes in here. Its one of a kind. The lighting, the carpet, the booths, the chairs, its all so classic Sask. You can tell there have been many a parties in here. Super cool spot, if you love dive bars, come here. @claytonkroeker Best furniture, chairs, fake ducks hanging from the ceiling, and VLT room so far. As soon as you walk in you’re like ‘oh yeah this place rocks’. Great pool area, great bar area, great regulars, and fantastic 90s beer posters. Old Ag hats and crochet stuff on the wall, classic Sask… and seriously the chairs are just fantastic. Awesome little volleyball area by the patio, love that little spot in the back with just one table to play crib or Kaiser or whatever. Oweners seemed super nice, staff was awesome. @claytonkroeker The least divey spot so far, its actually really well kept in here. No variety of chairs or gross carpet or anything like that. Its pretty legit inside but still has the small town Saskatchewan vibe. Unreal beef dip, real good food here according to the locals. love how theres senior hockey stuff all over the bar. Love the VLT area, super unique with the booths. Pharmacy in the mens room is a nice touch. Staff was lovely and the patio rocks… no real red flags here just all green ones. @claytonkroeker Nice open concept in here, right when you walk in you see all of it! Its not the size, its how you use it. Love this space! The old beer signs, the local stuff up on the wall, the bar top in the corner, the awesome corner for pool… but the pickled eggs and variety of chairs are the biggest green flags. @claytonkroeker Best carpet contender alert here friends. You cant find stuff like that anymore. Plus the variety of metal chairs, 80’s speakers, and unique smoking/patio area… yeah this place checks alot of boxes. Apparently the wings are amazing, I was too early for them. Love the pool area, good snacks on the rack, and a very trippy bathroom. But the best part is the outside. They dont make buildings like this anymore. Looks so classic Saskatchewan. @claytonkroeker Legendary spot during @Saskatchewan Roughriders season. Everyone from #yxe making the trip for a game always stops in here. The chairs, the wood floors, the disco ball and free calendars… this place just screams Saskatchewan. Love the Rider flags from years past on thr ceiling. Love the photos of regulars all over the place. The menu is solid and food is tasty. Staff is the best part. So nice and friendly! You always see someone you know and make some new friends! The variety of 90’s chairs, the crib board table, the jerky corner… so many green flags. This was the first place where the steak pit was working too! It’s one of those places that has good vibes from the moment you step in. Something about the lightning makes it feel nostalgic in here too. @claytonkroeker Best chairs so far on this quest, and the carpet is top 3 for sure. An ideal spot to unwind on Friday after a long week. @claytonkroeker As soon as I saw the hot nuts machine, knew it was going to be a great spot. The prices here are from 1994, and the burgers were solid! One of the best snack racks so far too. The ice cream is for sure a nice touch. The entrance with all the ag posters and ads is so classic. The two ladies working were so nice. Love the brands and basically everything on the wall. @claytonkroeker They do have an ‘old school’ kinda bar in town too (it’s called Shysters I believe?) but it was closed when I was there. This place though, even though it’s in a new building, it has that old school Sask feel to it! Love all the love to the local teams, local radio playing on the speakers, great area for pool and live music. Plus some good pub food, the pizza was solid! Not my favourite sauce but whatever I’m not picky. Staff seemed friendly, and the locals seem to love this place. Huge green flag is the amount of stuff people have made for the place. @claytonkroeker It’s technically not a bar, but we’re counting it. Has those small town bar vibes and it’s all Hepburn’s got so why not? It has so many green flags too. The Sailor Dan was a nice surprise. So many cool old signs and town history knick knacks. Love the retro vibes from the bowling alley, feels like 1982 in here, mean that in a good way. Unreal dry ribs, not greasy and the right amount of crispy. They got the plastic cups IYKYK. Love the NBA jam and little arcade. Lots of tables with a bunch of random chairs, great sign. A bunch of Rider stuff and random stickers from travelers, great signs. The vintage beer merch really puts the cherry on top. Love all the wood, and the metal chairs, and the tiny dance floor, and just the aura inside. Such cool sports stuff hanging on the wall but it doesn’t take away from the Beach theme. @claytonkroeker Each VLT machine has a different chair, love that custom made cover for the stool. It’s such an old school feel spot with the decor. The owners were vacuuming and cleaning when I got there, apparently a big group was getting after it the night before. So this place still gets rowdy, you love to see it. Ignore the smell near the back and you’re good! Love the old school chairs. It’s also kind of like a corner store with the slushes and other stuff they sell. Pool and darts area with some booths on one end, the main bar area in the other. The bottle cap bar and the old school liquor machine are so cool. @claytonkroeker The front door is literally 9 steps from the highway. Never seen that clock in system for regulars before, super cool reward system there. Couldn’t get a read on this place from the outside. Didn’t expect it to be like this, super well kept and nice! It’s modern but still has the classic small town bar essentials and feel. @claytonkroeker Might be moving to Laird, such a cute town with an awesome little bar! The owners here were so nice. You can tell they care about the history of the place and want to make sure they carry on the legacy. Love these smaller ‘beverage room’ style bars. Just one small room, a pool table, few tables, and a bar top… that’s all you need! Well, and a sweet patio! The pub food here is top notch. The wings were a 9/10, those broccoli bites were a 9.5/10, same with the mozzarella sticks. The gravy for the poutine was super tasty, everything was unreal! @claytonkroeker I didn’t get to see Brock Lesnar, but that’s where the negatives end… THIS BAR ROCKS! It’s not the classic small bars we feature with the old metal chairs, carpet, and bad lighting (love those bars too) but it still has that small town bar feel to it. That steak pit is a great centre piece for the place, love all the history attached to this place, and that mural is just awesome. The food is what’s most famous here, the burger and steaks were top notch. Another not so classic small town bar thing, the rooms upstairs are actually legit! @claytonkroeker Love this bar. Has such a cozy feel to it, right when you walk in you kind of feel like your home. The retro carpet-chair combo was my first sign that this place was going to be good. That giant wall of @hawkinscheeziesofficial confirmed that, best wall ever! Great spot to watch a Jays or Riders game, you can’t match the aura in here. @claytonkroeker LOVE this bar. We have a little family cabin at Blackstrap just down the road, so I didn’t want to play favourites and do it right away… but I come here a lot and never have a bad time. Great spot to watch a Rider game or stop in after a long ride on the bikes or sleds. So many people from Saskatoon make the trek down here frequently for the good deals and atmosphere. You can try, but you just can’t match the aura of a place like this. The patio is one-of-a-kind, the inside is a great mixture of random stuff and actual things, and the pub food is very solid. Wings were great and I’ve had the $2 burger before… it’s legit! The staff rocks, they’re always doing cool things in the community and bringing in fun stuff for the bar. @claytonkroeker When you google ‘Cyns Beer Parlour’ one of the first pictures that comes up is a horse hanging out in a bar… that should tell you all you need to know! @claytonkroeker Shout out Jay Onrait for watching my silly bar videos. He’s one of my broadcast heroes, one time he even used the Fajardo/Fernando joke I was doing for months. Great minds think alike haha! Traveled down to his grandparents hometown for this one, beautiful Balcarres. The old hotel bar is closed but the new spot in town is solid! Bronco Joes is in the rink and I bet this place is buzzing for after Senior hockey games. It kind of doubles as a hockey/ball museum with the old photos. Love the old booths, the Jays stuff, and the Owner Jim… he’s a gem! He and his family have worked super hard and put a lot of work into this place. They got great food, that’s for sure! @claytonkroeker Love the open concept, it’s one giant room, we’re all friends in here… vibe of this place. Love how they get their food from local farms. The postcard are adorable too. The old snowmobile pictures, the Sturgis flags, the handmade VLT room door, the classic ads on the bulletin board, the Rider player artwork… so many green flags. The ashtrays on the deck are so classic too, forgot to highlight that in the voiceover. @claytonkroeker Place has been standing since 1910! Love bars that are in the old Hotel, especially when it’s well kept and clean like this place. It’s the perfect blend of updated and classic/retro. Love all the historic stuff around the piano, just a cool aura in the one side of the place. Bet coffee row here in the morning is great. Gene and Shawna the owners are super nice too, and Buddy is the best dog around. Had a full stomach and had to run, but heard the burgers are top notch here! Love the hotel up top too, very retro and I’m digging it. @claytonkroeker Unreal cinnamon buns and good Chinese food on the same street… classic Saskatchewan. Super old school and charming bar right here. Doesn’t look like it’s changed in decades, and that’s good thing. Love bars that kind of act like a Time Machine. Based on how flavourful that bruschetta dip was, I’d say that most stuff here is tasty. @claytonkroeker Love the places that look simple from the outside, but then you walk in and it just catches you off guard! The beer signs, art, sports stuff, all of it just works! Such a cool aura in here, the bar top is such a great spot to have a pint too. Lots of space, they have live music here a bunch too. The new owners have really worked their butts off on this place and it shows! The wings are dynamite, fantastic juice-to-crunch ratio. The Denzil Burger was soooooo good too. @claytonkroeker Usually the small town bar is in the old hotel that’s been around since the 30’s. This one is in a strip mall though, and as a Saskatoon Lifer that’s fine by me. Love a good strip mall pub, best part is this feels like a classic old school bar! The senior hockey stuff, the town history all over the place, the homemade gifts from regulars… love places where the walls are chaos in a good way! The owners rock, the dry ribs and chicken fingers are just the right amount of crispy, and the music stuff everywhere is a cool touch! @claytonkroeker The bar with the stools on the step is such a classic that you don’t see anymore. Love the carpet-chair combo in here. Probably not a place for food, but down the road 5 minutes there’s that hidden gem in the gas station (got a cool video on that place coming soon too) where you can get a bite to easy. The ceiling above the dance floor is super unique. It may be old school and a little not-updated… but whatever! @claytonkroeker Had planned on going to 2 other places on this trip, but they are closed until next month. Couldn’t go home empty handed so I stopped in Wynyard and I’m glad I did. Love bars that are in the old hotel. The carpet, chairs, pool setup, ice cream stand… it all just works. Great spot for a pop or some lunch, atmosphere is your classic small town bar that everyone knows and loves. @claytonkroeker One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life right here. You want a classic, small town Saskatchewan hospitality experience… come to the Jansen Hotel. So cool that so many people and workers stay at the hotel. Made some new friends! When local farms put their brands on the bar wall, that’s the best green flag ever. It’s also so cool to read all the signed bills hanging up on the wall… You know a small town bar has a passionate following when! @claytonkroeker Glad I finally decided to pull into Broderick for once and check this place out. Knew about it from my pal Jody Peters and always pass it when I play golf in Outlook… I was missing out! Veronica has one heck of a spot, one of those places that you really remember. The outside has such a classic small town loook, and the inside is beautifully re-done into a great restaurant. That lobster Mac & cheese was amazing. I’d be willing to bet any pasta dish, any steak… anything and everything here is probably good. TDR has one of those auras about it. You can tell there’s a lot of care and passion here. @claytonkroeker What a gem of a spot, did not expect this kind of setup before walking in. The sounds that this bowling alley makes are kind of soothing somehow. The bright green billiard tables, the shuffleboard, the retro pinball, the crokinole, the 17 crib tables… this place is so classic Saskatchewan! It also doubles as a hockey museum for the town. Love all the old programs and photos from the 50s and 60s. How ‘bout that suit too! Great spot for the people in town to hang out. @claytonkroeker Leroy is an awesome little town with a great little bar! If you’re from Saskatoon and like the food at Diane’s Kitchen… it’s the same people! Unreal Asian inspired food like sushi and ginger beef, but they have they pub classics too. Happy I ordered before the power went out, haha! Bad timing but it gives me an excuse to come back! @claytonkroeker Going to a show and crushing a few pops in an old Jehovahs Witness Hall wouldn’t be a bad way to spend a Saturday! Very cool spot in downtown Biggar here. Simple setup but it works! Love how the Crib table has its own little arena setup. Love the can tabs jar, the serve yourself coffee, and the patio is amazing. Good pub food on the menu and the staff was super friendly too! The sports/rec area they have is so great, fantastic little main drag with some awesome shops, and a handful of cool spots to grab a pop or two! My personal favourite is the Country Squire Inn, immaculate small town bar atmosphere in there. But the new place, Scout Brewing Co, is awesome too! Great and friendly staff in there, had a blast. @claytonkroeker Bad news, the old hotel bar in Strasbourg is closed. Good news, there’s a place called ‘Mama Bear’s Den’ where you can get an unreal bannock burger and a pop if you want. Great little restaurant here, you can tell they put a lot of effort and love into this place. I won’t pretend to be a bannock expert, I’m far from it, but my goodness the bannock is great here. My first bannock burger ever right here and it’s gonna be hard to top I think! Great local spot you should road trip to this summer. @claytonkroeker Don’t know how long I’ve been doing these #saskatchewan videos but this is one of my favourite small town stops so far. The @cheerful woodpecker grocery is fantastic. I’m a sucker for a simple space that has been turned into something special and unique. That’s exactly what Davor and his family has done with this place. Such a cool atmosphere, you can just tell they’re super passionate about food here. Everything is hand made, locsl, and fresh. This chicken gyro (shout out @ChickenSask some of your finest work here) is spectacular and the pizza fed me for 3 days. The flavours, the freshness… what a spot. Luckily I came between lunch and supper or else this place would be packed. @claytonkroeker Love when a bar doubles as the hangout for a local senior hockey team. Also love when a small town bar shows off the history of the town on the walls. The Elbow Hotel has both of those, plus an awesome roof top patio and immaculate vibes! It’s one of those small town bars that’s still full of old school charm, but is well kept and clean at the same time. The staff were gems and so friendly. Learn from my mistake, come after 4 if you want food. Kitchen doesn’t open until supper, but apparently the pizza is unreal here! If you’re coming to golf, stop by here and the many other things to do in town! @claytonkroeker In case you didn’t know there’s a tiki bar like 20 minutes south of Saskatoon! Love Little Kahuna’s Blackstrap it’s such a cool spot tucked away at the Blackstrap main beach. They haven’t been around long, just a few years now, but they already have a cult following. Love the beach/pirate theme, the whole place is just a vibe. The fancy drinks are great, they got a full menu of stuff if you’re hungry, and they even had a treasure chest for the kids! Didn’t expect that, super nice touch. @claytonkroeker One of my favourites so far, that carpet is unreal! The OG hotel bar in Davidson isn’t around anymore but just behind it you got this gem in the motel. May not be much but it’s all you need to have a good time with friends. Cheap beers, cozy atmosphere, awesome owner… Susie is the best!
